Audition Information for
"The Music Man"


Auditions:
Accepting Video auditions from men ages 15+

Video audition information
Cast list will be posted June 23, 2022.

Music Rehearsals start June 13, 2022
Band rehearsals start June 20, 2022

Audition schedule:

8:00 AM - 2:00 PM In person auditions, scheduled in 5-minute time slots
2:30 PM - 3:15 PM Dance auditions for all auditionees age 14+
3:30 PM - 7:00 PM Acting and singing callbacks by invitation only.
Auditionees will be notified at the end of their initial audition whether they are expected to attend this callback.  Auditionees should communicate any scheduling conflicts to the Directors IN ADVANCE if they are not able to attend this callback or need to leave early.

April 23, 2022 Final casting decision will be made
If you would like to audition for Music Man but are unable to attend in-person auditions on April 16th, click the button to learn about submitting a video audition.

Rehearsal schedule:

The rehearsal schedule is tentative and will be adjusted to accommodate cast conflicts after auditions and casting are complete. Come to your audition prepared to communicate any conflicts you have with this schedule between June 13th and July 30th. Please note that any conflicts occurring between July 21-30th may exclude you from consideration.

General Audition Information:

  1. Come 10 minutes early to your audition
  2. Sign your waiver/release of liability form
  3. Have your head shot taken by Troy Community Theatre production team member
  4. Be prepared to discuss any conflicts with the Rehearsal Schedule at your audition; please list them on your audition form.

cast member Auditions:

  1. Arrive at the audition location and complete your audition questionnaire in person. Be prepared to wait for an available time slot. Email us to request a time slot in advance.
  2. Prepare a 16-bar or 1 minute cut of a classic Broadway Show Tune (not from Music Man.)
  3. Bring music for the accompanist, or a Karaoke/Accompaniment Track, or be prepared to sing A Capella.
  4. OPTIONAL: Prepare a 30 second to 1 minute monologue of any genre

Marching band Auditions:

  1. Arrive at the audition location and complete your audition questionnaire in person. Be prepared to wait for an available time slot. Email us to request a time slot in advance.
  2. Bring your instrument and be prepared to play 2 scales and one rhythmic pattern provided at the audition.
