About the Troy Community Theatre
Youth Apprentice Program
Theatre and the arts are safe and fun places where youth can learn teamwork, leadership, organization, problem solving and act them out with kindness and support. The Troy Community Theatre Youth Apprentice Program (TCTYAP) was born out of a desire to support youth in their leadership aspirations, under the backdrop of theatre direction and production.
Leadership in practice

Through the Apprentice Program, community youth and students who seek to expand their practice of the theatrical arts to areas such as directing, casting, fundraising, set design, promotion and more, can apply to receive the support and mentorship of the Troy Arts Council Members, as well as access to the resources of the Troy Community Theatre. These resources generally include sound equipment, costumes, set materials, props, and lighting.
The student apprentices are expected to lead the project, but can request support from their mentors at any point.

SOMETHING'S AFOOT - 2022
In 2022, the Apprentice Program showcased "Something's Afoot" a murder mystery comedy. In addition to directing, casting and acting in the show, Isaiah Raasch and Maureen Needham, now seniors, expanded their competencies by managing the fundraising, grant writing, and promoting. Committed to the vision of a learning opportunity for youth, they further staffed the entire show with additional youth participants who performed every aspect of the production, including stage management, set design and construction, lighting design, and sound.
